The War for the Wheel is the rivalry between SIU and Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) in football, where a ship’s wheel is the trophy. More on that later. This particular game saw the Redhawks score the game-winning with just 11 seconds left. SIU would get its revenge down the line, but we’ll have to wait and see for that.
The 2022 SEMO game story won first place at the 2023 ICPA awards in the category of Sports Game Story. It was tough as a proud Saluki, but writing about losses is just as important as writing about wins.
